Holistic Nutrition Center -
Questions

  • Q: I never learned to cook.  The whole idea of learning healthy cooking seems overwhelming.  What do you recommend?
  • A: We have several solutions that may help.  First, the 'Healthy Family Diet'.  program, teaches you how to stock your pantry, what to shop for and where, how to choose recipes, and in every class we cook. You can try it, take the recipe home and make it for your family.  Second: we are in the process of putting together a cooking program for beginners and reluctant cooks. Third: we have hired a professional chef to work as a personal chef.
  • Q: What's a personal chef?
  • A: A personal chef will shop, cook, stock your fridge and freezer with a week or 2 weeks worth of food for your family. She leaves your kitchen sparkling clean and all you have to do is heat and eat.  She will be cooking in the Holistic Nutrition Center style of 'food for health'.  You choose which recipes you want from her healthy menu.  The service is ideal for busy professionals, people who physically are unable cook, people who simply don't know how.
  • Q: Do you offer private cooking lessons?
  • A: Yes, Chef Meghan can come to your home or you can come to Holistic Nutrition Center. We think cooking lessons are really fun to do with friends, couples, and it's perfect for family bonding.  This can help a family learn to navigate their new therapeutic diet.  Cooking lessons are great for understanding the basics of healthy cooking.  Call the office to set up your cooking lesson.
  • Q: I have 4 kids and all of them have learning problems.  Is it related to their diet?
  • A: There are strong relationships between the normal American diet and nutritional problems.  For example, if your family eats a certain food additive, it may cause brain excitement right when it's eaten and a few hours later it may have a sedating effect. If the kids have the additive for breakfast and again at lunch, it may be really difficult for kids to stay mentally focused, and their grades can slip.  That's just one little tiny thing that can be considered with the diet. Consider our 'Healthy Family Diet' program.
  • Q: I've been trying to become pregnant.  Would it help to change my diet?
  • A:  We think it is certainly worth a try.  A healthy diet offers more nutrients that may be needed for pregnancy to occur.  There are other things to consider as a root cause of infertility such as low sperm count or even chronic inflammation from food sensitivity.  At this time, we recommend our Healthy Family Diet program or a private session.  Holistic Nutrition Center has started a collaboration with Karyle McNeely RN from Innerpeace Birthing to develop programming for nutrition and wellness in all stages of pregnancy.  We are currently in the planning stage - please let us know what you would like us to include in classes and programs.  pam@holisticnutritioncenter.net
  • Q: I’m dealing with a few chronic health problems, and I’m taking a lot of prescriptions that have some unpleasant side effects.  Can Holistic Nutrition Center help me?  I would love to get off a few of my meds and deal with my health more naturally!
  • A:  Holistic Nutrition Center can teach you to boost nutrients with whole foods, with a goal of working toward health.  A nutrient dense diet can sometimes change the direction of underlying health problems.   We think it is an excellent idea to give our diet a try, just to see what it will do for you.  Your doctor will help you when you need changes to your medication dose.  Healthy Family Diet program.
  • Q: I'm not getting any younger and I wanted to keep doing the things I enjoy like hiking, golf and kayaking.  My diet isn't great and it's probably just a matter of time before I have health problems unless I start to do something.  Can you help me?
  • A: Yes, we can help you transition to a healthier family diet that includes anti-inflammatory and cancer prevention foods.  We think you should focus on healthy aging and work toward that as your goal.  It may include eating more vegetables or learning to cook differently, every step you take can be helpful. Either the Healthy Family Diet program or a private appointment with our nutritionist can help you get back on track.
  • Q: I’ve been on every diet on the planet and I am so sick of carrots and celery.  Is there anything you can do to make it less boring?
  • A: Yes, Healthy Family Diet was created for people just like you!  We want our clients to enjoy their food.  You won't be stuck eating carrots and celery.  We don't use a diet, we don't use math, but people lose weight. If you want to feel good and you like to eat, you'll like our program.
  • Q: I'm pregnant and also have a toddler.  I'm worried that my children will become overweight.  I want to start making my own baby food and serving healthy meals at home.  Is this what you do?
  • A: Yes, exactly!  We offer  baby food making classes.  Our Healthy Family Diet program is a great program to follow up with.  We cover topics like: picky eaters, food budgeting, healthy breakfasts, the gluten problem and more.
