Ditch the junk, get healthy



How many times have people said that Holistic Nutrition Center should have a blog?  I never thought there was enough time.



I like to help people eat better and some folks just need a little motivation.  A blog may help.  Let me know.  

I think everyone should ditch the junk.  Your body needs real food - that's the simple truth.  So eat your veggies.  

The complicated truth is that people are really sick.  Over 50 million people are suffering from autoimmune diseases, 1 out of every 3 women can expect a diagnosis of cancer in her lifetime, most deaths are caused from heart disease.  That's a lot of people, but those are just a few of the top listings.  We now have more than 14,400 disease codes, and no cures in sight.  Do you think this is acceptable? I sure don't!

There's a biological reason why we get sick, and why we have this looming public health crisis. Fixing the crisis is not going to be about waiting for additional diagnostic codes and new names for symptoms and diseases.  And it also isn't about the development of new drugs, even if they're different from today's prescriptions.  

Fixing this health crisis needs to start at a personal level. Medical physiology is complicated, but most people find that it's actually pretty interesting to learn what's happening in your own body.  By comparing your own with the ideal body, you learn the way it's supposed to work.  By understanding and identifying what you want,  it often becomes clear that big improvements can come from making a few simple diet and lifestyle changes.   

So if you need a little motivation to eat better, start with the simple truth, that we need real food.  It's a great time to ditch the junk and eat some veggies.

Congratulations on starting a blog, Pam! I agree that real food, including vegetables, needs to replace the "food products" that are too common in modern Western diets.
